Senators tour “Land and Living” at state fairPublished on 08/11/2008
“Ohio agriculture has a proud history and a bright future,” said Brown, who spoke with OFBF interns about showing Guernsey calves as a youth and his encounter earlier in the day with a calf that descended from one of his family’s bovines. “I am proud to be here at the Ohio State Fair recognizing the best that Ohio agriculture has to offer,” he said. Voinovich toured the building while wearing his familiar white cowboy hat, a staple of the former governor’s multiple visits to the display. The senator was in the building for more than just a tour though, as he showcased the exhibit as a stopping point on his “High Gas Prices Tour.” The tour kicked-off last month, tackling growing issues resulting from recent gas price increases. The senator has supported increased domestic exploration for a decade and insists that America needs to embark on a new commitment to increasing supply of domestic oil while coming up with alternative and renewable resources. The senators also voted for their favorites in the “Growing a Masterpiece” contest, featuring cowboy hats representing agriculture and rural life in each Ohio county. Visitors to the exhibit were able to vote for their favorite hat throughout the fair. Votes may also be cast online at www.OurOhio.org. | |
